In previous articles, we have told you about different games with which you can reach your ideal of winning money playing.
Even so, we have also slightly reviewed other types of games more similar to Minecraft for their idea of open-world exploration.
However, so far we had not mentioned that there is another type of game that is quite interesting and fun: MMORPGs.
MMORPGs are that type of game where you are in a world where you have interaction with other people and you get into your own role. If you’re a lumberjack, you have to do your firewood duties and trade firewood.
It is a type of game that has a very large backing, since, outside the blockchain world, we can see the popularity and support of this type of games such as:
- World of Warcarft (WoW)
- Guild Wars
- Final Fantasy (El XIV), among others
On that note, without further ado, let’s find out what Ember Sword, the innovative WoW (Word Of Warcraft) built on Ethereum, has to offer us.
What is Ember Sword?
Ember Sword is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), which means that the number of users that can be part of the game world is unlimited.
It is free to play and is designed to be played from any platform, such as your trusted browser or your own application.
It was created on the Ethereum blockchain by the Danish company Bright Star Studios, which is composed of an experienced team of game developers who have led projects such as:
- Guild Wars
- Kaos War
Certainly, its greatest attractions are found in:
- Its fantasy universe aesthetics.
- Its collectibles that can be created by players of the game.
- Its improved economy.
This is because it seeks to revolutionize the way in which blockchain games are monetized, avoiding pay to win.
This way, unlike other pay to win games such as Axie Infinity, you don’t need to spend a huge amount of money to generate income by playing.
It is still under development, but, by the end of 2021, they expect to open an alpha ( that is, the first version of the game), so that you can test it.
La idea es que si encuentras errores o fallos, puedas reportarlos para que lo mejoren.
How does it work?
To achieve all of the above, the world of Ember Sword is divided into three zones:
- Kingship Territory: This is where the players’ LANDs (territories) are located.
- Wilderness Territory: It is created for PvE (player versus environment). In it, we can wander freely in search of quests, items or bosses of the game.
- Outlaw Territory: In this area, you can collect the rarest resources and fight against other players or higher level monsters.
You can also level up your weapons, which define what class you are in the game (e.g. Mage).
What about monetization?
As mentioned above, it has two types of NFTs: LAND and Cosmetics.
It is a NFT token that represents a piece of land or territory on the Ember Sword game map. On this plot of land measuring 10 x 10 meters, you can build an:
- Mighty castle in your honor.
- Small monster camp where you can do PvE.
- Blacksmith’s stall for handicrafts.
It is a whole universe of possibilities in which your creativity and skills are the protagonists.
This type of NFTs are characterized by being displayed as cards, which can be obtained in outlaw areas or when facing a boss of the game. They can be:
- Special emoticons such as dances or poses.
- Unique designs of parts of your equipment.
- Textures for LAND structures, among others.
Both LAND and Cosmetics have an interesting aspect in that they can be bought and sold in the pixel marketplace, the in-game store.
Therefore, if someone is interested in the dream city you created, you can sell it to them at the price you consider fair.
You can also create your own Cosmetic and upload it to the game. Then, the person who wants to give personality to his character, will acquire it in the Ember Sword store. Both NFT can be used within the game.
What can I buy or sell my LAND or Cosmetic with?
The answer is simple. You can do it with the in-game token: Ember (formerly called Pixel).
In addition, to keep the price from fluctuating, the main way you can own in-game currency is with USDC, a stablecoin that is priced to the dollar.
