ToggleOver the years, we have seen the emergence of different non fungible token or NFT platforms focused on digital art. In the face of this, it is common for names like Rarible, Foundation or Nifty Gateway to come to mind.
Consequently, the art market is looking increasingly prosperous because of the new opportunities generated by tokenization to make money with digital collectibles.
However, this has not been all, because within the non-fungible tokens we can find everything. It is a vast sea in which we can find everything from sports collectible cards and music to tweets.
However, with such a wide variety of platforms and interesting projects, it is likely that you will find yourself unsure of which one to buy and sell NFTs on.
Therefore, in order to give you a solution to this question, we will briefly review what I consider to be the most viable options to dive into NFT marketplaces.
To solve this question, we will focus on 5 themes: art, sports, virtual real estate, video games and mixed.
If art collecting is your thing, you’re in luck, as there are an incredible number of NFT platforms.
Therefore, it is difficult to recommend just one, so we will mention three that stand out above all others:
It is a decentralized platform that allows you to participate in live auctions, buy, sell and exchange limited edition digital art NFT.
It is one of the most popular markets with a large volume of trade that has already reached US$48 million.
Whenever an NFT is purchased in a primary sale, Foundation charges you a 15% commission. If it is a secondary sale, you receive 10% for each work resold.
It is an NFT marketplace based on the Ethereum blockchain.
It uses its native token “RARI”, which allows creators and collectors to vote for updates to the platform and participate in its governance.
However, artists must submit their creations for approval, but Rarible makes it possible for anyone to be included in its portal.
In addition, you can find NFTs of art, photography, domains, memes and more.
Certainly, you as an artist can set your own prices, but whenever you are purchased, 5% of the total value goes to Rarible.
If you are looking for limited edition artwork, SuperRare is your best option.
It is built on the Ethereum network and describes itself as a combination between social networks like Instagram and Christie’s auction house.
It is much more exclusive than Rarible, as it works with a small number of carefully selected artists.
However, anyone can submit their artist profile for evaluation.
If you are an artist, if your art is purchased, SuperRare charges you a 15% commission. If it is resold, you receive a 10% commission.
This is a marketplace of digital sports collectibles officially licensed by the NBA.
Therefore, as a user, you can buy and sell digital collectible cards that have videos of heroic and memorable moments from more than 30 NBA teams.
As such, in these cards of your favorite players, you can find a player’s statistics and replays of the highlights of a match.
It is currently valued at $7 billion and aspires to go much further with the NBA.
Decentraland is a virtual reality platform, similar to Second Life or Roblox, that was created on the Ethereum blockchain.
Within their virtual world, users can:
Consequently, the in-game land (parcels) and the virtual properties built on them, are an NFT. This NFT or utility token is called LAND and is stored by means of smart contracts.
In addition, users can explore, travel and visit places in a similar way as in the real world, while interacting with other users.
In this category, we have two interesting proposals that are worth keeping an eye on and giving them a chance:
Enjin is a scalable, decentralized blockchain. It is designed to allow developers to tokenize elements of their games on the Ethereum blockchain.
To do so, it uses Enjin Coin (ENJ), an ERC-20 type token that backs digital assets produced through its Enjin Marketplace platform.
As a marketplace, it drives many blockchain projects, from item collections from games like Age of Rush or The Six Dragons to reward programs like Microsoft’s Azure Heroes.
As of a few weeks ago, it is recorded that more than 43 million Enjin Coin has been spent on digital assets.
Any user can purchase these NFTs and Enjin will only take 2.5% of the value at which it was purchased as a commission.
Unsurprisingly, Axie Infinity has its own spot on this list. “Axie Infinity” is a dApp built on the Ethereum blockchain and launched in 2018.
In its marketplace, players can buy and sell their axies in the form of an auction. Regarding their prices, they can range from 300 dollars to more than 2 thousand dollars.
Currently, the most expensive Axie mascot ever sold cost 300 ETH, which is almost 512 thousand euros.
Similarly similar to Decentraland, Axie Infinity is expanding into the virtual real estate category. Since February, it has been trading the most expensive digital land on the blockchain.
OpenSea is the eBay of NFTs. Consequently, it is a very universal marketplace where you can find NFTs from:
On this platform, you can find NFTs of very famous projects such as Cryptopunks, Axie Infinity, Gods Unchained, Cryptokitties, etcetera.
Undoubtedly, it is an excellent option to search for all kinds of items in one place. For each purchase, OpenSea takes a 2.5% commission.
So much for our journey.
