ToggleAfter knowing what is a halving in crypto, it is important to delve into one of the most important halvings, the halving that occurs within the blockchain created by Satoshi Nakamoto (pseudonym of the person or group of people behind the creation of Bitcoin) . Find out when is the bitcoin halving and get ahead of buying bitcoins online.
In total, Bitcoin will experience 32 halving events. The first bitcoin block halving happened on November 28, 2012 and the next one on July 9, 2016. As each halving happens, the mining reward will decrease, until the last halving establishes a zero reward. So miners will only charge commissions for transactions made.
Considering that the number of bitcoins is finite, it is important to know that not always the same amount of BTC is released. Therefore, the exact date of the next halving on the Bitcoin network can’t be fully predicted. It depends on the time it takes to solve each block, on the difficulty of solving the mathematical calculations and their subsequent verification.
Bitcoin halvings occur every 210,000 blocks. Considering that the network average is one block every 8-10 minutes, halvings are estimated to take place every four years. To ensure that BTC issuance rate is constant, difficulty adjustments are made in Bitcoin mining. Specifically, the the bitcoin protocol adjusts the difficulty of the mining every 2016 blocks.
With all this, it is calculated that the next bitcoin halving will take place in the middle of the month of May 2020. This time, the block reward will be 6.25 BTC.
Here you can see the time until the next bitcoin halving. Tic-tac…
